Joseph C. Johnson

Joseph C. Johnson has been active in the estate planning field since 1969.  After graduating from DePauw University in 1966 with a major in English Composition, Mr. Johnson attended Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, Michigan, where he was active in moot court.  Mr. Johnson received his J.D. degree cum laude from Wayne State in 1969, and immediately embarked upon a career in estate planning.

Mr. Johnson was employed by the First National Bank of Chicago from 1969 to 1973 as a Trust Officer in the bank’s legal division, he concentrated in preparing wills and trust agreements for private attorneys, and reviewing and analyzing wills and trust agreements prepared by private attorneys, and in supervising litigation matters involving the bank and its capacity as Executor or Trustee.  In 1979, Mr. Johnson became affiliated with a 30 member Chicago law firm, and concentrated in estate and business planning matters, and in real estate matters.

Since 1975, Mr. Johnson has practiced law in Northbrook, Illinois.  Mr. Johnson’s law firm is located in a two-story, 100-year-old yellow brick residence that he has converted into his law office.

Mr. Johnson presently devotes 100 percent of his time to estate planning matters, and to post-death estate administrative and probate matters.

In addition to being a frequent author in estate planning periodicals, Mr. Johnson has played an active role as a teacher of estate planning to other attorneys on behalf of the Illinois Institutes for Continuing Legal Education.

Mr. Johnson is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Estate Planning Counsel, and the SunBridge Network of Advisors.  In addition, Mr. Johnson is a co-founding fellow, and the inaugural chancellor, of EPICOR (Estate Planning Institutes of Collaborative Resources), a wealth strategies collaborative.

·   Estate Planning: Counseling followed by execution and funding of effective estate plans.

·    Post-Death/Probate: Counseling followed by implementation of estate plans created on behalf of decedents.
